music yule like.

our friends amelia + christopher johnson (amelia was responsible for these, remember?)
are the most delightful people you could ever meet!

they do delightful things at every turn
and currently christopher (known as "puppy" by amelia, adorably)
will be sharing christmas music each day until the blessed one
on this wonderful corner of the internet.
so far, each snippet of music has been golden so i recommend you follow along!
go for the music, stay for the cleverly titled url.

aaaand
while we are on the topic of christmas music,
i'm working on a killer playlist on spotify
so any suggestions are welcomed with open arms!
that playlist can be found here, if you're into that sort of thing.

what are your favorite christmas songs?
i dare you to find one better than this one.
it just can't be beat.

portland or bust.

[map from revenue times.]

we've hit the road!
we're on our way to visit kelli + jared in good ole portland.

adam is unbearably excited for our first road trip together
but made me promise not to play this song over and over.
fine, adam. fine. but the second you fall asleep...

we've downloaded jim gaffigan's audiobook to get us by
and plan to make a few stops along the way.
may our sanity maintain the whole way through!

hooray for travel!!!

adios, kylee! and other things

on friday night,
all of these pretty people met at my friend brissa's (new!) house
to celebrate a few pregnancies
a few moves
and miss kylee leaving for a mission.

i love these people and i'm so glad to have them as friends
and i want to kick myself for not seeing them more often
since life is moving in different directions for us all!

katrina and brissa are going to have a couple of ridiculously cute babies,
kelli & jared are currently in san francisco and will be living in portland so jared can go to bike school
and kylee will be living in DC for the next 18 months
which is especially exciting because we can come visit her at the visitor's center on the DC temple grounds
because adam's family lives there
and we met there
and looooooooove it there
and we typically go there twice per year.
huzzah!!!

kylee, you're going to make such an awesome missionary
and i couldn't be happier to see you doing something so wonderful with your life!

cheers to good friends
and all the newness that is finding them!

some great advice i've received lately.

i'm having quite the difficult time lately,
and my dear friend mags, being the sweetheart she is, emailed me saying,
"let me help! i'm a fixer!"

and fix it, she has.

so if you need to "get through" anything,
or feel overwhelmed,
or just plain down...

make a list of everything you have to do (and want to do!)...
from moving your furniture around, organizing all your jewelry, finally getting new tires...
to little things you want to do for yourself like shave your legs or wash your hair,
and start crossing things off.

seeing those things on paper
(like taking a shower and fixing a zipper on an old jacket or painting my nails)
and crossing those babies off that list
have me feeling so much more fulfilled.

it's those little things that really up your sense of accomplishment
because it's a priority to take care of yourself, right?

so here are a few things i'm planning on crossing off soon:

- get my rings polished
- finish painting the dresser
- deep condition my hair
- get a new car (ummm like really soon!)
- write in my for-real, paper-paged journal
- get some pictures printed out and framed
- take bruno for a reeeally long walk
- buy a new toothbrush
- finally wear that dress i bought three months ago...
- finish at least three solos for my students by the end of the year.

i'm just feeling really efficient.
it's sooo nice.
i'm really looking forward to seeing those bad boys with lines through them!

see? it's good advice.
i love my mags.

katie + josh.

i had the wonderful pleasure of decorating my dear friend katie's wedding reception earlier in the month.
i have fond memories of sitting in her attic bedroom
and planning short films and talking life philosophies.
she's brilliant. and hilariously clever.
she's the most genuine, sweet, and poetic girl you will ever meet in this lifetime.

& now she is married!

they are a couple who love antiques, john keats, and all kinds of music.
i love all the antiques they wanted to incorporate into her reception!

also, my mama is a pro when it comes to tablescapes
and it would not have looked halfway pretty without her creative eye!

the andersons

adam and i visited these two people last night.
i absolutely need to take a moment to gush about them.
i keep sending kelli gushy texts & tweets
and i decided i need to just sit down and write it out here.

their little love nest is so much more adorable in person
jared's bikes are a thousand times cooler in person
it's quite difficult to ride a fixie
kelli is one of the most genuine and sweet people on this planet
 jared is one funny kid
kelli is oh-so creative and crafty
i am not very good at poaching eggs
jared is a talented bike rider
kelli is such an amazing dreamer.

they are such loving and caring married people. they are in love with each other. no question about it. they are so open and caring. every move they make is for each other. every word they speak. they are so lovely.

i need these beautiful people in my life.
i absolutely adore them.

last night was just so refreshing,
even though i was a serious bore.

we missed the train,
so they drove us home from ogden.
what sweeties.

i left their company,
being more in love with adam,
with my life,
with my dreams,
and being more confident with everything that i am.

adam has been texting me all day about these two, as well.
{which is saying something,
because he isn't much of a gusher.}

kelli+jared,
you two are so wonderful!
