this is how cabo san lucas looks on porta 400.

film!
film, glorious film!

my dad got me a huge pack of this stuff for christmas and i was so glad i remembered (on my wedding day!) to stash some away in my suitcase for this trip.

i have a lot to learn about this film stuff...
but looking back on these shots gives me the most spine-tingling feeling of pure euphoria.
like it captured the way my heart felt in that city.

adam also managed to, somehow, dress every single day to perfectly match the cabo san lucas color palette.
that man. i tell ya.

the only way i could afford to continue this film habit
is if i actually sold my canon dslr and used the funds to develop + scan the maybe 10 rolls of film it would pay for.*

but, you know....
honeymoon.
kind of worth it.

in the mean time.
you may find me on road trips for lottery tickets in other states
and selling all of my clothes.

because.... film.....!!!

*exaggeration. i just need to find a more cost effective lab around here.

cabo san lucas part two: the sea

this beach in mexico is probably the most beautiful place i have ever been.

all of those magnificent rocks used to be underwater, so they are perfectly smooth and easily climbable.

in fact,
someone mentioned that from our resort we had to walk 20 minutes to find a water taxi
and pay $6/person to have them water-taxi us to lover's beach.
OR...
we could climb over the rocks pictured in that bottom left photo up there
for free.
so, naturally...

i can tell you
that i have never felt more alive or adventurous than when we were climbing that thing
and i was hopping barefoot from rock to rock
knowing that at any moment either of us could slip and fall...
and how crazy all the locals thought we were for making the trek so ill-prepared.

as soon as we got over those first (huge!) rocks,
we gave each other a huge, celebratory high five
only to find out that we weren't at lover's beach yet.
oops.

the rest of the hike involved dodging huge & terribly deadly waves that crashed against the rocks
so you had to run while the tide was away and hope you made it around in time.
we salivated a little as water taxi after water taxi loaded with dry people passed us...

yet we persevered.
however,
i got a little overconfident for a moment there
and this happened:

[i didn't even cry. new personal best here.]

R.I.P. RED BELT
I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU.
so if anyone catches a surprisingly stylish, belt-wearing marlin anytime soon,
send it my way.

i actually got hit pretty hard.
as in,
i don't really remember it
and
i will probably have a couple scars on my leg for the rest of my life.
it was one of those:
"holy cow, you're bleeding!"
"no, i'm not... where?"
*looks down to see blood drenched leg*
"oh. there. wow. i don't even feel that."

plus, adam decided to be super stylish and wear fancy shoes
(who am i kidding... did you see my outfit, too? a skirt? who do we think we are?!)
and this happened to them:
[and R.I.P. adam's rad thrifted shoes. you will be missed dearly.]
if only i could have photographed how water-logged they were.

the more i look at these photos
the more i feel like i can hear that heavy sound of the waves crashing on the beach
and smell that unique mexican sea aroma
and feel the oceanic mist landing on the back of my neck...

... the faster my wild heart beats for this amazing sea
and i feel so ready to go back.

lover's beach.
it's a dream
and well worth the whole "life-flashing-before-your-eyes-hope-you-told-your-family-you-loved-them" stuff.
trust me.

or maybe a water taxi.
you could try that, too.

cabo san lucas part one.

[our view of the whole city + the marina]
[pardon my sweatbangs up there ^. i just had a near death experience with the sea. details to come.]
[this is their post office!]
[this pelican just came and landed in the pool all slick 'n stuff]

[DEAR FOOD OF CABO SAN LUCAS I WILL NEVER FORGET YOU EVER]

[those fish/turtles were literally right outside of our room. lit.er.all.y.]
if you haven't already heard
or if you just skipped over the pictures (hey now... don't do that.)

cabo. is. beautiful.

the cacti! the amazing bright colored flowers! the food! the heart-stopping FOOD!

i even learned to love you, cabo humidity. i learned to love you in a very real way.

it was a beautiful place for our honeymoon
full of people congratulating us for being on a honeymoon
and getting tons of free stuff because we were, well, on a honeymoon.

i have so many more pictures full of bright colors and the ocean!
the ocean there!
they just don't have it like that here in america.
i even feel a little "homesick" for lover's beach right now.

i don't think i've ever been in love with my husband more than while we were there
which is proof we need to rack up some more frequent flyer miles.
lots more.
(*hint hint adam*)

oh, cabo san lucas.
you amaze me.
