sometimes,
the beauty of everything keeps me up at night.

i just don't want to close my eyes on the world yet.
i've fallen deeply in love with this pretty place.

the flowers, the seas, the animals, the moon, the stars,
the way the wind picks the leaves up off the ground,
the way you can almost smell the cold air.

the daily sunsets & sunrises,
the sound of heavy rain,
the way trees stand tall above me.

the sound of running water,
the smell of cinnamon,
little squeaks in people's voices.

the way the floor boards creak in my house,
the light streaming through window panes onto my sheets,
the way my hair feels when i let it hang down on my back,
the sound of laughter in the next room,
the way my muscles pull and knead when i take that first stretch in the morning,
the silly surprise of a sneeze sneaking up on you.

these things seem to ride through my senses
and into a simpler place inside of me where i have no barriers, where love is unending and pure,
a place where i believe in everything and know nothing at all.

an entire, wonderful world exists beyond the apparent and the regular,
a world far more beautiful than what meets the eye.

be still,
let it surround you.
 just let it swallow you whole.
let these splendors pierce you and fill you with a hunger for more.
